preheat oven to 200°…set wire rack on baking sheet and place in oven.
grate onion, shred potatoes, mix and put mixture in clean towel and ring out liquid
toss mixture with flour, spices and egg. heat oil in large skillet.
using 2 heaping tablespoons per pancake, spread in skillet, cook until golden. repeat.
cut apples up with skins and seeds and put in saucepan with sugar, water and lemon juice. bring to a boil.
lower heat, cover, simmer 15 minutes until apples are soft. uncover and cook, stirring about 5 minutes until thick.
puree mixture in food processee or blender. serve with pancakes
